When I announced the new videos available on the YBC® Online Membership this month, a few people reached out to ask for recommendations on a quality yoga mat that wouldn’t break the bank. I put together a list of a few quality mats that cost less than $100. There are tons of yoga mats out there, and in my experience, you don’t have to spend a fortune to find one that will last a long time. Here are a few recommendations:
-
Jade Harmony - $85 - I love this mat because it has great grip, so it's perfect for hot and sweaty yoga practices. Jade Yoga is committed to eco-conscious business practices and plants trees with proceeds from every product sold. These mats are high quality, durable, and will last for years if taken care of properly.
-
Manduka ProLite - $85 - Manduka mats are nice and thick for plenty of cushion and have a rippled surface to help with your grip. They practice zero-waste manufacturing and make long lasting, quality mats. Our Editorial Director, Ashley, said she received one as a gift 5 years ago, and it’s still the mat she uses for her daily practice. To prep the mat when she got it, she scrubbed it with epsom salt a few times to help get rid of the “new” smell and rough up the surface a bit for better traction.
-
B Mat - $88 - B Yoga sent us one of their mats for a YBC® Gives Back Giveaway we hosted earlier this year, and if you’re looking for a sticky mat, this is the one for you. Slipping is almost impossible on the surface. Their simple and wider than average design makes this mat one of our new faves.
-
Ajna Eco - $50 - Full disclosure, I haven’t owned one of these mats, but a friend of mine has one, and I borrowed it for a practice one day. I loved the textured surface, and at 5mm, it’s a little thicker than the standard yoga mat. Ajna’s mats are made from organic jute material and are vegan friendly.
